Applying manual plaster to plasterboard joints
Written by Ray Munn LtdSprayplaster offer some of the best fillers and plasters you can use for decorating your wall or ceiling. They are produced from high quality dolomite and are manufactured in a process that is driven by a high regard for quality.
However, to get the best out of the plaster, you need to follow some basic guidelines during the application process. When using filler to seal up the joints of plasterboard, make sure you flush the heads of screws or nails so that they are not left protruding before you start. Also be sure to chamfer square edges. Next, fill the joints with Breplasta LH and then cover them with paper tape. Apply another layer of filler over the tape. These steps should be done in a continual sequence until the entire wall is done.
When applying the plaster, remember not to overload the spatula. Scoop half a trowel of plaster and smear it onto the spatula. Apply the plaster to the wall using downward strokes, going as low as you can before the plaster on the spatula is used up. Always work in straight vertical lines. After the wall is done, give the plaster a few hours to dry. Once the plaster on the joint is dry, use sandpaper or a steel spatula to even it out. Use light strokes. For the best result, apply a final coat of Breplasta LF.
