One of the more obvious reasons plasterers choose spray plaster over conventional kinds of plaster is that the application process becomes much faster.

Spray PlasterWith just a three man team, it has been proven that an area of about 1,000 square metres can be completed in just one week. Spray plaster also dries fairly quickly enabling you to proceed with decoration of the wall sooner. Painting can be done over the plaster job in a day or two at most. For professional plasterers and painters, this is a godsend as they can be able to work on more projects. As for the home owner, they will be able to move into the house, or use the room, sooner.

Another money saving property of spray plaster is that it can act as a primer for your walls, saving you the trouble of buying and applying a coat of primer before you begin painting. Still on the topic of saving, there is far less wastage of plaster when you apply spray plaster instead of traditional plaster. In fact, a recent study revealed that you can save up to 40% on the cost of the plastering job by using spray plaster. On top of the money savings, your walls look more professionally done when you use spray plaster than when you use conventional plaster. This is because it spreads much more evenly. An ordinary DIY enthusiast can produce a plaster job worthy of a professional decorator when using spray plaster. The ability to apply spray plaster even to hard-to-reach areas is one trick that makes this possible.

Spray plaster also offers exceptional moisture resistance as compared to traditional plaster and is hence more suitable for areas such as bathrooms and kitchens. Coupled with this ability is the availability of spray plaster in a variety of different finishes: textured, leathered, flat & smooth etc. This means the application of spray plaster can actually be the first step in decorating your walls.

Ergonomically, using spray plaster is far less strenuous than using the traditional trowel and hand float. Furthermore, it is much faster to spray the plaster, meaning you work less hours. Most spray plasters, including those distributed by Ray Munn, are water-based and non-hazardous both to the environment and to human health. To make it even easier to apply spray plaster, most of them are supplied pre-mixed, hence no need for mixing on-site, and less need for water on-site. So really, you don’t need to be a pro to plaster your own walls if you choose to use spray plaster.
