Our tiles come in a wide array of designs and colours and you can pick from our selection of dados, mosaics and skirtings to complement your preferred style of tile. Depending on what the nature of your project is or what outcome you are looking for, you can take advantage of the different qualities offered by ceramic and porcelain tiles.

Made from white or red clay, ceramic tiles are made by mixing clays, pressing them into a regular shape and firing them at high temperatures. The eventual colour of the finished tile will be determined by the colour of the clays mixed together and this has no bearing on the quality of the finished product. Ceramic tiles are preferred for indoor tiling.

Porcelain tiles are generally much more dense and durable than ceramic tiles as they are fired at greater temperatures. They are made from porcelain clays which are finer by nature, making them much more resistant to moisture penetration. It also makes them more resistant to stains. Glazed porcelain tiles offer even more protection from scratching and staining as they have an additional layer of liquid glass applied under high temperatures. They are non-porous and able to resist fading due to exposure to the sun, hence their use for outdoor tiling. Since they are hardier than ceramic tiles, most porcelain tiles can be used for both indoor and outdoor tiling.

After the firing process, tiles naturally tend to vary in size and shade. Rectified tiles are those in which this tendency has been treated to some degree by being given an additional finish using grinders and precision saws. While you can go for rectified tiles, it is also recommended that you try and order enough tiles to complete your job from the same batch to ensure better consistency.
